Well, Hype Fm was officially silenced on the 6th of December 2009. Thank you to all that tuned in to the local and were apart of it. The blog will remain here for the time being. Please continue to support local music and arts and especially a voice for the youth of Perth.

Stone Circle

Battle of the Bands

Lead On, a non-profit community development organization that aims to strengthen relationships between youth, business and the broader community, is putting together a Battle of the Bands competition for the Bayswater Street Festival which is taking place on November 1st 2009.

This competition is aimed at involving youth with the community and showcasing to the community in a positive light the talent and skills that these youths possess.

WHO?
• Aiming to involve the youth of Perth with the Bayswater Street Festival.
• Seeking Perth bands with an average age of 18 years.
• Any live music style (no offensive content).

WHAT?
• Battle of the Bands competition on stage at the Bayswater Street Festival 2009.
• Entry fee of $20 for each band (every entry receives a $20 gift voucher to Sound Centre).
• Submitted entry needs to include a 1 song demo on either CD or DVD. Preferably audio and visual but audio only entries will be accepted.
• 6 Finalists will be selected by our panel of industry judges to compete at the Battle of the Bands.

WHEN?
• Entries to be submitted by September 15th 2009 (couple days late will still be accepted).
• Finalists notified by Monday, October 5th 2009.
• Competition takes place on Sunday, November 1st 2009.

The Crossbars @ The Local

The Crossbars Joined us in the studio to give us an exclusive listen to their new “studio dog” EP which will be released at the end of August. Before too long James whipped out his guitar and gave us an acoustic version of their tune KARMA.
